Seek My Friendship and Then You Will Have a True and Lasting Friend
"As soon as a sacrifice is required, so many of these so-called friends are busy with other matters."
In this chapter Jesus said, "My child, how many friends stand by you when you need them? As soon as a sacrifice is required, so many of these so-called friends are busy with other matters." George skipped a paragraph and read: "Do not overestimate earthly friendships. Sooner or later you must leave your friends, or they must leave you. If you depend too much on any human companion, you will have to bear a painful separation later. Human friendship needs My blessing." George then read the reflection at the end of the chapter: "All true friendships must be based on virtue and loyalty to Christ. Unless I am helping my friends in some way to live a better life, I am not a true friend. So, too, people who are not helping me become a better person, are not real friends of mine, but useless acquaintances." After George read the words "useless acquaintances" and before he could continue, Jesus entered the conversation and spoke to Nancy. Jesus said, "My friendship is the only true and lasting friendship. "I will tell you why: Because I am all Truth, because My Love alone is perfect. "Seek My Love. Seek My friendship and then you will have a true and lasting friend. "Remember I give you all that you need. "Human friendships are lacking in perfection. "My motive is pure. "I desire you to come unto Me forever. "Oh, My little children, you look for love in all the wrong places. You look for friendships in all the wrong places. "Place your life, place your trust in Me. "Share those words with My children." [Jesus was referring to the words George was reading from Chapter 93 of "My Daily Bread".]

George was concerned that some of Nancy's friends were taking up her time that should be spent with God. Nancy's many friends wanted to talk with her on the phone or be with her in person. They did not realize this prevented Nancy from devoting the minimum of three hours a day to prayer that Jesus requested of her. Nancy needed this prayer time to receive help and strength from Jesus. George began reading aloud Chapter 93 on page 180 in "My Daily Bread". The title of the chapter was "Human Friendships".
