You Think You Are Looking for Me

In His March 13, 1995 message at the apparition site, Jesus said, "My Kingdom is not of this world. You look for the gods of this world and you think you are looking for Me." The reflection which follows is from the Chapter titled "Life's Daily Warfare" on pages 352 and 353 of "My Daily Bread" [see Bibliography]: Christ: (3) The world fights Me by its false standards of self-respect, ambition, and success. These are merely different names for self-seeking without regard for others, not even Me. True self-respect, and the right ambition are those which direct your eyes to your highest perfection and eternal happiness, above all that is temporary and incomplete. (4) The flesh fights Me with its animal desires, its likes and dislikes, which make it harder for you to think clearly and to strive for what is right. Your blind self-seeking and your stubborn pride offer you many false reasons for doing what is really bad for you. With these influences continually at work, you are open to continual self-deception. Think: ... In His Commandments, His Words and His Sacraments, Jesus offers me the knowledge and strength to be loyal followers of His.
